Consumer products
Unlike bulk chemicals,
consumer products are based on performance and properties.
A typical process to produce performance materials can be
divided into two parts: production of the active chemical
ingredients and the formulation of the micro and macro structure.
PDC supports its customers in selecting and designing the
cost optimal process for the chemical ingredients as well
as in selecting and designing the equipment to modify the
product microstructure. The latter involves technologies
such as milling, sieving, emulsification, crystallization,
drying, macro and micro mixing etc. PDC's structured conceptual
design methodology is able to screen and compare the many
possible process alternatives to effectively find the most
promising process schemes.
Our experience with industrial clients has
shown that the economic performance of an unoptimized flowsheet
using the best technology is superior to a highly optimized
flowsheet using inferior technology. PDC's process synthesis
technology has enabled our customers to signifantly reduce
capital and operating costs. An additional benefit of the
process synthesis projects is the development of new products
as a result of understanding the process fundamentals.
Conceptual design not only helps the
development of an economically desirable manufacturing process,
but also provides key competitive advantage in terms of
faster time to market, flexible designs, and efficient manufacturing.
