Performance chemicals
& materials
Unlike bulk chemicals, competition in the
area of performance chemicals and materials is not dominated
by the cost structure of the production process or the purity
of the products. More important is the need to meet customer
needs for specific performance criteria of the material
or chemical produced and the properties supporting such
performance. Very often, microstructure has the biggest
impact on the value of the product.
Typical processes to produce performance
materials can be divided into two categories: the production
of the active chemical ingredients, and the adjustment of
the micro and macro structure. PDC supports its customers
in selecting and designing the cost-optimal process for
the chemical ingredients as well as in selecting and designing
the equipment to modify the product structure. The latter
involves technologies such as milling, sieving, emulsification,
crystallization, drying, macro and micro mixing etc.
